BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) – Authorities shared 6 News with custody of a person after a shooting late Saturday that injured several people.
The Omaha Police, Nebraska State Patrol, Papillion Police, and Sarpy County Sheriff’s Deputies were on hand to assist the Bellevue Police near 13th Street and Cornhusker Road after arriving at May 21. I received a call at 11 p.m.. m.
The OPD Bomb Squad was also there, BPD spokesman Andy Jashinske said during a press conference.
Several people were shot dead, but information about their condition was not yet available and authorities were still in the process of identifying and contacting family members, Jashinske said.
Authorities have not yet actively sought anyone else involved in the incident and determined that he could not rule out the possibility that this could change in the course of the investigation.
Jashinske confirmed that there was a fire near the scene – « a truck and maybe some fireworks or some kind of device » – but authorities were still trying to piece those details together.
UPDATE: The suspect was in custody at the time of this Facebook Live.

A witness told 6 News that he stopped near the restaurant and around 9pm. Heard four or five pop noises at 8 p.m.. m. When he went to the restaurant, there were five or six more such noises, but he wasn’t sure if they were gunshots.
Witnesses also reported seeing a large fire in the area around the same time.

Previously, a dispatcher from Sarpy County confirmed that BPD was calling the scene an « investigation into active shooters » and urging people to stay out of the area.
