World news – US – Do you remember the 21st night of September? Watch Earth, Wind & Fire’s virtual fall jam.

The 1978 song stays on a loop in our heads every autumn.

Earth, Wind & Fire, the Chicago group who famously asks, “Do you remember the 21st night of September?” is coming through in the pandemic with a virtual celebration of their 1978 hit song “September.”

The song, which recently got a remix from Eric Kupper, peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 that year, but it remains the No. 1 September ditty for any self-respecting fan of fall. Both the opening question and the irresistible chorus ensure “September” will stick in our brains for at least the first week of fall, if not longer.

So why not ring in the fall equinox — which happens tomorrow — with Earth, Wind & Fire?

The group’s “21st Night of September” live event will be broadcast on YouTube (you can watch above) starting 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT with members of Earth, Wind & Fire, DJ Spinna and special guests.

The current lineup for the band, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, has Philip Bailey on vocals, conga, kalimba and percussion; Verdine White on bass, percussion and vocals; Ralph Johnson on drums and vocals; Myron McKinley on keyboards, Philip Bailey Jr. on background vocals; B. David Whitworth on vocals and percussion; Morris O’Connor and Serg Dimitrijevic on guitar and John Paris on drums and vocals.

Earth, Wind & Fire’s Miraculous Supernatural tour with Santana was postponed because of COVID-19 and has been rescheduled for 2021.

The band is set to perform (with Santana) at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel August 15 and at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden August 19.
