How did you come to CBD? I was introduced to the Lord Jones brand by my hairstylist and dear friend Jenny Cho three and a half years ago I was fortunate enough to discover a ton of products in my industry and some work and some are not for me But the name Lord Jones kept popping up because a lot of women used their soothing body lotion on their feet and back when we used to walk in high heels, which we didn’t. plus i tried this hack and was blown away by how i felt loved the quality i loved the way i felt lighter and became very interested in what was CBD and how it can work for me I started using their tincture and didn’t notice anything at first, but I’m also aware that you have to eat more than one piece of spinach to get a six pack, so I stayed with it and after about two weeks I found that my tra vail home, who normally frantically goes through my to-do lists and what to pack for my kids’ lunch, sort of evaporated I was listening to the radio and I was like oh wow, CBD makes me feel like I’ve been turning down the volume my whole life and it’s at the perfect volume so I contacted Lord Jones’ team and said I would like to get more into CBD and create a product at a lower price accessible to all Basically, can we use your high-end recipes, tweak them, and educate the public on what CBD is, because it’s a space that’s completely saturated and also incorporates a ton of misinformation and is playing either? that stoner trope, that doesn’t appeal to me or that clinical setting, that doesn’t appeal to me either I thought about what I would look like if I was in your medicine cabinet, just sitting there waiting for you and this is what i would look like i would have shiny packaging, i would be bright and fun colors, i would whisper metaphors about the prospect in your mind These two years have been really fun to develop
Where does the name Happy Dance come from? He was describing the experience of how I felt when using CBD It’s a metaphor for a change of perspective and in today’s world stress is so prevalent on every corner and you don’t don’t really have the time you want I like that the words « happy dance » apply everywhere You don’t have to escape reality to do a happy dance and it doesn’t even have to be physical ; it’s a state of mind and it’s the place our mind goes when we think about happy thoughts and it just spoke to me. Everything I have created as an entrepreneur has to speak to me in as a consumer so that I can support him

Moms are juggling so much already and I wanted to make sure that the products didn’t stop personal care from becoming another chore as it’s such a never-ending to-do list My goal was to make it easy to use Most people use body lotion anyway – you don’t have to remember to take another vitamin or whatever and I wanted fun, clean textures that create a delicious experience that’s easy to incorporate into your daily ritual, though. you can even call the five minutes you have in the morning a ritual

I grew up in Michigan and still haven’t lost sight of how overpaid I am as an actress and how, for example, when we started Hello Bello wanting to donate diapers and wipes and top quality lotions and potions for kids there that weren’t just in a boutique in LA with a high price tag My main goal was to create a good product, but accessibility was mandatory Accessibility is two things: it’s the location and it’s the price I don’t believe good things are only for the rich There are a lot of things that can bring the price down And this wonderful, delicious, 15 years of R&D had been made on the supply of this quality CBD and I wanted use my platform to take the guesswork out of a category that has become impossible to navigate, where there is a lot of misinformation and people don’t I don’t understand so I wanted people who were either CBD enthusiasts or new to CBD to have an entry point I felt Lord Jones’ team was so aligned with my values how to do it for busy moms with CBD in their skin care products at an affordable price, a price they could manage because no one should have to go out of business buying the products they need

Why did you specifically choose the re-entry project on a new way of life? I don’t make any business effort without an element of accountability I’ll be really honest I don’t need another paycheck so how are we going to do any good in the community here? How are we going to be good people? Tell me how I will sleep better for the next 10 years This is what I want I had read Susan Burton’s book, Becoming Ms Burton, and was incredibly impressed with a woman who had been in prison and coming out, got on the right track, explained why rehabilitation is not available in the areas where I live and how can I do something She started going to the bus stop and meet women getting off the prison bus saying I had a room in my house Do you want to get back on your feet? Let’s do it together I think they have almost 10 homes now and they provide housing, case management, pro bono legal services, advocacy and leadership development for women who are rebuilding their lives afterwards jail A lot of these women were in jail for marijuana – do what you want with it, draw your own conclusions I was like, this is the one It’s local in Los Angeles, it’s black property, that I wanted to support, and one percent of our Happy Dance profits will go to Ms. Burton and the New Way of Life Re-entry Project She has proven she does a lot with very little and I believe we are her First National Corporate Sponsorship She’s an amazingly upright person and I want to build businesses that will provide a source of income to fund the work she does, people like her
What is your favorite product in the collection? I love them for different things I love the experience of taking a bath with the bath bomb and it is because I also get these 15 minutes for myself but the body butter, I really like the fact that the scent be ambiguous The scent, to me, smells clean and fresh but it doesn’t interfere if I wanted to wear an amber oil or a perfume I really, really like the texture because it feels like it stays on but that it does not become fat
What’s your personal grooming routine these days? I take a lot of mental notes and take a lot of practical actions so that I don’t let myself sink into a place where I’ve forgotten what self-care means to me And I have a problem with how people define care personal This is not a manicure for me – it is an ongoing support system that I can call on at any time and this support system includes my best friend Jess who loves my children and when they get really boring I can call and say take them away from me for 20 mins and he comes in singing a nice musical theater song and it distracts me so i don’t go crazy It involves relying on other moms to ask for advice or that involves telling my husband can you stop what you are doing, i would like to spend some time with you or a romantic night out It involves any time of the day, feeling like I want 10 minutes alone and having it do I just go to my room, lock the door and put on my audiobook For 10 minutes I don’t give up on anyone, but I have to lower my stimulus Or take a bath with this bath bomb, which is probably once a week but that’s all that reminds me to put myself first Sometimes it’s just a mantra I live and die in the words of Eleanor Roosevelt: « No one can make you feel inferior without your consent » Sometimes it does is my personal concern, I just tell myself It’s a thousand different things applied all day, every day, so that I don’t feel like I’m drowning
