NFL insider Adam Schefter mentioned three different Philadelphia Eagles players in a Sunday morning post featuring the latest buzz ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday Here’s what Schefty had to say:

The Philadelphia Eagles were listening to offers from tight end Zach Ertz, but star tight end is on reserve injured and now barred from being traded, under new NFL rules Philadelphia has a similar situation with injured wide receiver DeSean Jackson, but the Eagles would listen to any offer for wide receiver Alshon Jeffery

The Eagles have been trying to trade Jeffery since October 2019 Clearly, however, the teams have not been willing to shoulder his expensive salary

One might speculate that the Eagles avoided putting Jeffery on the reserve / physically unable to perform (PUP) list ahead of the 2020 season in an effort to increase his business value This strategy hasn’t worked since we got into Week 8 and Jeffery is still here and not playing He sort of injured his calf before the Eagles’ Week 7 game, despite the fact that the team only held walkthroughs and not actual workouts

The Eagles don’t seem really interested in having Jeffery playing for them Maybe they’ll find a way to offload his paycheck and free up a spot on the roster by tying a sweetener to the deal Otherwise, he’ll be interesting to see what happens after Tuesday’s deadline Could the Eagles just cut it at some point? Or will they reintroduce Jeffery into the offensive – at the expense of a young receiver’s playing time – for the second half of the season only to leave him inevitably after 2020?

Albert Breer previously reported that the Eagles had received calls about Ertz Ed Kracz specifically noted that the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens were among the teams contacting Philly

As Schefter notes, however, the Eagles cannot trade Ertz now who is on the injured reserve Fairly unfortunate moment The Eagles could be looking to revisit Ertz trading during the offseason, especially if Dallas Goedert really shines during his absence Richard Rodgers continues to look solid only makes Ertz more stretchy in Philadelphia

Schefter’s report marks the first time we learn that the Eagles were open to Jackson’s trade Such a notion is hardly surprising as he is close to turning 34 and the Eagles have drafted his potential replacement to Jalen Reagor

As is the case with Ertz, however, Jackson cannot be traded anymore. The Eagles wouldn’t have had much for him even if he was healthy, but it could have been better than nothing

There’s still a chance Jackson will return from the IR later this season But he’s unlikely to make the squad in 2021 The Eagles can cut or trade (likely the old one) Jackson after this year to free up over $ 5 million in ceiling space
