Police and other first responders descended Saturday afternoon on the Lehigh Valley Mall as customers and staff rushed to safety, according to a report from the scene.
Allentown police are part of the response to a shooting at the mall, a department official said.
Police and Lehigh County emergency management and dispatch personnel couldn’t immediately be reached for more information.

Dispatches indicated groups of people were still inside the mall and police were trying to escort them out. Police were securing store after store, dispatches said.
A Northampton County dispatch supervisor said some K9 units from that county had been sent, but the supervisor couldn’t say what the nature of the incident was.

A Lehigh County dispatch at 5:35 p.m. spoke of a shooter being in the second level store at that moment.
