The Indiana Pacers have reached a multi-year deal to hire Toronto Raptors assistant Nate Bjorkgren as head coach, sources at ESPN say
Bjorkgren, a follower of reigning NBA Coach of the Year Nick Nurse, sold the Pacers on his history of innovation, adaptability and victory in his time as an NBA assistant and G League head coach, sources say
Bjorkgren worked with Nurse on two G League stages, winning a title with him in 2011 in Iowa Bjorkgren reached the G League final as head coach in Santa Cruz in 2013 before to arrive in the NBA in 2015 as an assistant to the Phoenix Suns
Bjorkgren, 45, reunited with Nurse in Toronto in July 2018 and was part of his team during the Raptors’ championship season
Pacers replace Nate McMillan, who was sacked after four straight playoff trips McMillan was 183-136 in Indiana, 3-16 in the playoffs
The Pacers have made five straight playoff appearances but have been swept in the first round each of the past two years
