NYSEG and RG&E responded to thousands of disruptions at Finger Lakes and Central New York on Sunday after strong storms and strong winds ravaged the area..
NYSEG and RG&E said on Twitter: « We are responding to outages caused by strong winds and scattered thunderstorms, which continue to affect our service area. ».
The storms it passed through prompted severe thunderstorm warnings and a track record of bringing damaging winds to western New York. They stormed the area and brought strong enough winds to demolish trees and leave many without electricity.
Maximum winds of 63 mph were reported in Manchester, Ontario, the highest number seen during the late afternoon hours. Winds that may destroy are expected to last until midnight.
