ESPNCricinfo has named Andre Russell to the 2020 Lankan Premier League (LPL) team of the tournament.

The Jamaican scored 169 runs with a hit rate of 194 and took eight wickets for the Colombo Kings.

Russell shattered half a century with 14 balls and scored 65 points, not against the Galle Gladiators, when the Kings won the five-on-a-side match.

Russell got his runs at 28. 66 and bowling with a savings rate of 8. 92 to secure a place on the tournament team.

St. Lucian Johnson Charles had some comparable numbers but didn’t make the tournament’s LPL team.

Charles fought in the four games he played before doing well in the semifinals with a noble 76 for eventual champions Jaffna Stallions.

He also scored 26 in the finals when the Stallions beat the Galle Gladiators by 53 runs to claim the first LPL title.

Jamaican Chadwick Walton, who struggled to get runs in the Caribbean Premier League and Pakistan Super League, also noted that runs had to come through in the LPL.

Walton only had 57 runs in five games, with the highest score of 31 not coming out. He was only 19 on average. 00 and scored with a decent hit rate of 135. 71.

The trio was the only West Indian to participate in the inaugural edition of the Lankan Premier League.
