The clip, which has since caused a stir, shows five astronauts recreating the New Year’s Eve ball-drop tradition of Times Square, but with a twist.

Every year on 31. December people gather in New York’s Times Square, where at 23. At 59 o’clock a shimmering ball studded with crystals descends a pole to greet the New Year. However, this year the ball will be dropped on an empty street due to the ongoing pandemic.
