Add Ben & Jerry’s to the list of companies willing to take a chance on Colin Kaepernick in front of an NFL team.

Today the ice cream artisans announced a new flavor brought to you by Kaepernick, who is still a free agent while 41 year old Josh McCown has just signed with the Texans. But Kaep’s out of the league because he’s just not good enough, right? Whatever . . .

The dairy-free dessert « Change the Whirled » goes well with Kaepernick’s vegan diet and is made with fudge, graham crackers, chocolate chip cookies and. . . I `m hungry.

Kaepernick’s portion of the proceeds will go to Know Your Rights Camp, the organization he founded with the goal of educating and strengthening black and brown communities and promoting a new generation of racial justice leaders.

It’s no secret that the Vermont ice cream parlor is very advanced. While most companies posted black squares on their social media feeds in June, Ben & tweeted Jerry about the police defusing. They also wrote about it extensively on their website.

Other issues the company publicly supports include: GMO labeling, criminal justice reform, climate justice, LGBT equality, fair trade, peace building, rBGH, democracy, getting the batter out of politics and taking in refugees.

The ice cream has celebrities, musicians and politicians. Jimmy Fallon has a taste, so does Stephen Colbert. The late Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead has Cherry Garcia, while Phish Food is one of the brand’s most popular pints. Vermont politicians Bernie Sanders and Howard Dean had their own flavors too.

Kaepernick will join the ranks of these mainstream names. Though 33-year-old QB is being blacked out by the league, Ben & Jerry’s has still declared him marketable for much of the country. No kidding – he had the best jersey sales in his senior year in the NFL. And after singing with Nike in 2018, the company’s share price hit an all-time high.
