Last week when I was putting together the schedule for Men’s Basketball in the Great East, I had to go team by team in the Great East to get it all together as the league didn’t have non-conference schedules on their federation. This week when I was going to put the schedule together, the non-conference games were there. Boom, solved, then simply put together.

And then Seton Hall planned and planned Saint Joseph’s in a matter of hours and instead planned Iona (check out Matt Norlander’s Twitter thread for an explanation that makes Kevin Willard and Rick Pitino look bad) and sent me to the pirates  » Page for details on what actually happened. And then I realized that there were a number of TBDs in the Big East’s time column. And then, when reviewing Villanova’s game against Texas, I found that Villanova’s schedule for this week is terribly different from what the Great East has.

And so I double-checked each team’s schedule page to make sure all the games are there. From Sunday morning they are. However, this is 2020-21 college basketball in a pandemic and we lost two games last week and won two more last week, one of which didn’t even make the What To Watch. Oh, Creighton, never change.

UPDATES: Oh, fun, the « Subject to Change » disclaimer went into effect before the sun even set on Monday. St.. . John’s at Texas Tech is OFF. St.. . John’s vs Sacred Heart is OFF, even though that apparently actually happened on Saturday. St.. . John’s vs BYU is on. Connecticut vs USC AND Connecticut vs NC State are on, and I swear those weren’t there when I looked at the Connecticut schedule. Or did I forget to check the Connecticut schedule? Who knows at this point. Seton Hall versus Oregon is on.

So St.. . John’s now lost home games on December. 6 against the Sacred Heart and Dec.. . 8 versus Fordham. Had already worked to find a replacement for Sacred Heart. Now Johnnies could also be on 8. looking for one. #sjubb

More planning information: UConn will play USC at Mohegan Sun on Thursday, sources told CBS Sports. UConns game vs.. . The NC status on Saturday is also still active. BYU-USC is still active for tomorrow in Legends Classic. BYU’s second opponent in Bubbleville is trying to consolidate today.

OFFICIAL: Seton Hall-Oregon in Omaha Friday at 9 p.m.. m. In a week, Hall will be playing Iona, URI, Oregon and Penn State in four different locations. #shbb

Monday 30. November: Providence Friars v Indiana Hoosiers (1:30 p.m. Central, ESPN2) – Welcome to the Maui Invitational! Please do not ask questions about the bojangles on the street as they are located in Asheville, North Carolina and not the Lahaina Civic Center. The brothers are 1-0 the year after a 41-point blow to Fairfield on Wednesday, while the Hoosiers opened the same day with an 89:59 win over Tennessee Tech. KenPom says IU is preferred, but it’s a Cointoss. This is the only Maui Invitational game we’ll be reviewing here, but the PC is expected to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday, and both games could get pretty notable.

Monday 30. November: St.. . John’s Red Storm versus Boston College Eagles (17. 00:00 Central, ESPNU) – This one is in Bubbleville at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, where BC restored Villanova on Wednesday and defeated Rhode Island on Saturday. St.. . John fought Saint Peter in the opener but beat La Salle about 16 hours later. What does that mean for the Johnnies versus the Eagles? It doesn’t feel good, but we’ll see what happens.

Monday 30. November: Seton Hall Pirates v Iona Gaels (7pm Central, FS1) – It’s Rick Pitino’s first game against a Big East opponent since then. . . . . Holy crap, since the 16th. March 2013? He never planned a non-conference game against a Big East team before he was forced into Louisville? Technically, on Jan.. Played Connecticut in the first-ever AAC Championship game on March 23, 2014. So you can count that if you want. Even then, it’s been over six years and we’re getting Rick’s return to the league in a hastily arranged game that, technically, may not be as good as Saint Josephs. What do i dislike

Tuesday, 1. December: Marquette Golden Eagles v Oklahoma State Cowboys (6 p.m. Central, FS1) – Theo John and his brand new three-point shooting skills are hosting the Cowboys and are planning NBA draft top pick Cade Cunningham for MU’s first major test of the season in 2021. In the next four games, the Golden Eagles start three big opponents, while Creighton starts the league game.

Thursday 3. December: St.. . John’s Red Storm at # 17 Texas Tech Red Raiders (7pm Central, an ESPN channel yet to be determined) – The Red Raiders have looked great in their first two games of the year against medium-sized opponents when I tap this, and they ‘me will face AAC favorite Houston on Sunday in Fort Worth. This is likely a bad sign for St. . Johns, maybe worse depending on how the Boston College Game is going, but hey: don’t count Golden Gate Mike out.

Friday 4. December: No, not a typo, I didn’t forget to play a game here. The 4th. is the first day of Women’s Basketball Big East League competition! St.. . John’s host Georgetown is the first of four games scheduled for the day, although a recent positive COVID test on the Hoyas program casts this into doubt. The day also includes Marquette Hosting Providence.

Friday 4. December: Marquette Golden Eagles v # 4 Wisconsin Badgers (6 p.m. Central, FS1) – It’s a game against a high profile opponent, so that’s probably good. Check it out when you have some free time I guess.

Sunday 6. December: # 12 Villanova Wildcats at # 17 Texas Longhorns (Noon Central, ESPN) – I’m going to cover Texas time and TV information here as Villanova doesn’t currently list anything on their website. We’ll assume the Longhorns know what they’re hosting. It’s going to be a busy week for Texas after attending the Maui Invitational Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday before returning home for this one. Villanova will respond to overtime in a hastily planned game against Virginia Tech on Saturday night and end a hastily planned game against Hartford on Tuesday in Mohegan Sun.. I have no idea what to expect from this game, but Texas absolutely destroyed UT-Rio Grande Valley in the opener.

Sunday 6. December: Xavier Musketeers at Cincinnati Bearcats (2 p.m. Central, ESPN) – It’s the Crosstown Shootout! It’s my favorite game of the year without a marquette without a conference, and it’s always fun to cheer Cincinnati while cheering on the Great East. Xavier has already played three games and will play two more this week before this one. . . . . . while Cincinnati opened against Lipscomb on Wednesday. Yes, opens like in they haven’t played a game. This is by design, and not the by-product of a COVID shutdown. Does that mean Xavier is better prepared for the game, or does that mean Cincinnati is on fresher legs?

Sunday 6. December: Georgetown Hoyas v # 11 West Virginia Mountaineers (3:30 p.m. Central, FS1) – I’m including this game because it’s a Big East game against a senior opponent. That’s the only reason, because I don’t expect good things from a Hoyas team that needed a 16-2 run early in the second half to get an eight-point win over UMBC in their only game of the year so far.

Sunday 6. December: DePaul Blue Demons at the Iowa State Cyclones (17. Midnight Central, ESPNU) – This is how DePaul’s season has gone so far: They ended their two-week COVID shutdown yesterday and this will be their first game of the season, it will be their only improvement before it closes on Nov.. Start December on the street against Seton Hall with the game against Big East. KenPom says they have a 34% chance of beating the Cyclones. This is their third best chance of winning a game out of the five they have currently scheduled.

Sunday 6. December: Seton Hall Pirates at Penn State Nittany Lions (7pm Central, Big Ten Network) – Oh my god, there’s more basketball on Sundays [take a deep breath] No Gavitt games this year, but we’re still getting these big ones East / Big Ten clash. It’s been a busy week for SHU with a date in Rhode Island on Wednesday between Iona and this one on Sunday. Penn State is in a turmoil this season after Pat Chambers left for very bad reasons shortly before the start of the season. However, the year started with a 21-point home win over VMI. It would be a big deal for the Lions to get that victory – and KenPom says they are preferred – while Seton Hall really can’t afford another loss after being cut off in the Louisville opener.

Here is the full Big East men’s basketball schedule for the week as we know it on Sunday night.
