. . World News – USA – Busta Rhymes Details His fight with Eminem & Dr. . Dre recording « Calm Down » – Urban Islandz

Busta Rhymes shared the recording process about how he, Eminem and Dr. . Dre took his classic « Calm Down. ”

Busta Rhymes gave fans a glimpse of what it’s like to work with Eminem. During an interview with Pitchfork, he explained how the track « Calm Down » was almost six minutes long. The two have collaborated on a few other tracks over the years including « I´ll Hurt You » and « Touch It Remix », but the most popular with fans is by far « Calm Down ». The song was released in 2014 and included some extensive verse from both artists.

Busta Rhymes stated that the original track should never be that long, but that Eminem kept finding new ways to improve the track and challenge it. « If you want a clear exposition of the basics of hip hop and the art of moderation, [Calm Down] is the case study, » he said. He went on to explain the process and why it got so intense.

“I sent the 16-measure record to Eminem. He sent it back in about 40 bars. I like what’s going on with the f * &k. You won’t do this to me in my song. « I sent my verse back in 45 bars. He sends it back 56 bars. I sent my 62 bars back. He sends back 66 bars. I think brother who are we doing this record for at this point in time? Are we making this record for the consumer, or are we just fighting each other now? “

Busta added that the competitive nature between them served as inspiration to keep going. He said that he was actually glad that Eminem took the project so seriously.

« But that’s the beauty and the competitiveness and the spirit that we both have because that’s so important to us. We love it so much. Nobody wants to be a weak link, ”he said

He said it went beyond creating a song and brought back his passion for rap music. « Nobody wants to say that I’ll come to terms with getting my a * s bust from the other rapper on the song. From that point on, it’s no longer a business. It’s just this fiery passion that still burns in the souls of both of us as the sport’s truly incredible swordsmen, and we love the opportunity to show off the skills at the highest level when it comes to just raw dancing. It was so much fun, ”he added.
