Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra, both now 28 years old, have one of the most iconic love stories in the Teen Mom franchise. For starters, Catelynn and Tyler are the only couple from the franchise’s very first show – 16 and Pregnant – still together over a decade after the series premiered on MTV in 2009.

Catelynn and Tyler still play the leading role in Teen Mom (especially Teen Mom OG) and raise two daughters together as a happily married couple: Novalee (5) and Vaeda (1). Tyler and Catelynn first crossed paths in seventh grade in 2005. Catelynn caught Tyler’s eye immediately, as she exuded the same punk vibe as him. « We met in the 7. Class met. Fast forward to high school, and Catelynn and Tyler discovered they will be parents in 2008! Both were only 16 years old and juniors in high school after learning the life changing news. The couple, who had been together for three years by then, later made an important decision.

Catelynn and Tyler decided they weren’t ready to raise a child and they put their first baby up for adoption. This process was documented in her season one episode of 16 and Pregnant, in which the teenage parents selected a couple named Brandon and Teresa to adopt their little girl, who the adoptive parents eventually named Carolyn « Carly » Elizabeth Davis.

To date, Catelynn and Tyler can see their firstborn thanks to an open adoption agreement that allows the couple to make these annual visits and get photos of Carly.

Catelynn became pregnant with their third child in 2017, but unfortunately lost the child that same year. Shortly after the loss, Catelynn checked into a depression treatment center after thoughts of suicide.

« It was after we had a miscarriage and I kept waking up with panic attacks and they didn’t go away – it took about two weeks. And I think if you keep waking up with panic attacks, it leads me into depression. I just remember thinking, « I don’t want to wake up like this anymore, » Catelynn explained on her Coffee Convos podcast in June 2019.
