COVID patients who recover from the virus could have erectile dysfunction, a doctor has warned.

Infectious disease expert Dena Grayson said there are now fears that the coronavirus could affect a man’s performance in the bedroom even after he has recovered.

Dr. Grayson said we now know that people can experience long-term health effects from this virus.

« There are some real concerns here that men could have long-term erectile dysfunction problems from this virus because we know it causes problems in the vascular system, » said Dr. . Dena Grayson. Grayson told NBC Chicago this week to LX.

« This is something that is really cause for concern – [it’s] not only that this virus can kill you, but it can actually cause long-term, lifelong, potential complications. ”

The warning comes after it became known that what doctors call « Long Covid » can cause patients to experience multiple organ damage for months after infection.

Half a million Britons are thought to be struggling with persistent symptoms of Covid-19, including fatigue, shortness of breath and pain.

New research on 500 « low risk » people has found that the virus can have long-lasting effects on some of the most important organs.

The Coverscan study found that of the first 200 patients screened, 70 percent had damage to one or more organs, including the heart, lungs, liver, and pancreas.

Sir Simon Stevens, executive director of NHS England, said the health service needs to mobilize to help long-term Covid patients in the same way it dealt with coronavirus infections in March.

He said, « Long Covid is already having a serious impact on the lives of many people and could affect hundreds of thousands. «

A recent study by King’s College London found that people experienced muscle pain, loss of taste and smell, and excessive fatigue for 12 weeks or more after the virus appeared.

NHS England has now allocated £ 10 million to fund 43 specialized Covid Centers to help those still suffering from the effects of the virus.

Some will be in the form of mini-hospitals set up in larger hospitals, while others will be located in NHS locations and in clinics with general practitioners’ offices.
