World News – USA – Defender open ‘bittersweet’ decision to leave Man Utd and join Milan on loan

AC Milan borrower Diogo Dalot has announced that leaving Manchester United to join the Rossoneri has been « bittersweet » for him.

The Portugal U21 international arrived in Milan towards the end of the last summer transfer window and was loaned by the Premier League.

Dalot has played 10 games in all competitions this season, which is not easy to dismiss given the good performances of Davide Calabria and Theo.

His performances have fluctuated, however, as the 21-year-old played great games like the pair against Sparta Praha but others less convincing against Lille and Genoa.

It is perhaps understandable, as so far he has tried hard to achieve consistency in terms of minutes and in terms of his role alternating from side to side.

Dalot spoke to Portuguese newspaper Record about his United summer move, his words being transcribed by the Express.

« Of course the feeling is a little deeper, more because I didn’t have the time that I physically liked, » he said.

“I’ve had great moments at United. I played very important games for myself and the team. I walked away with a bittersweet feeling of not being available for all of the games I’d lost to an injury.

« But it is what it is. I wouldn’t change anything because what I learned was very important for my future and how I am now.

« I don’t regret it and don’t look back disappointed. It’s always positive to see the feedback from the Milanese fans and the affection that the United fans have for me.

« It’s fantastic to feel that. However, my focus is solely on the present. The gift is Milan and it helps the club achieve its and my goals. It wouldn’t be professional to be different. ”
