Discovery, the new streaming service from Discovery Inc. . will be launched on services and platforms like Amazon Fire TV and Roku on Monday in the United States, according to a source familiar with the company – two deals that eluded streaming rivals Peacock and HBO Max when they were launched.
Discovery will also be available to Vodafone TV and cellular customers in 12 European markets with special offers that vary from source to market.
WarnerMedia from AT&T Inc. launched HBO MAX in May but was unavailable through Roku and Amazon and challenged its growth. HBO Max wasn’t available on Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablets until November. 17 and a month later on the Roku streaming platform.
NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service, which was owned by Comcast Corp and released on Jan.. Launched in July, was only available on Roku in September. 21st. It’s still not available on Amazon Fire TV.

Discovery had previously announced a U. S.. . Distribution agreement with Verizon Communications Inc to provide the service to 50 million customers on the first day after Verizon and Walt Disney Co signed a similar agreement to launch the Disney streaming service. Discovery also has distribution agreements with UK broadcaster Sky in the UK and Ireland, Telecom Italia in Italy and Megogo in Eastern Europe.
The new service will have an emphasis on non-written programs and 55. 000 episodes from discovery channels like HGTV, Food Network and Animal Planet. It costs $ 4. 99 per month with ads, or $ 6. 99 per month ad-free.
