World News – USA – ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ warmly pays tribute to Tom Rinaldi

ESPN’s College GameDay paid tribute to longtime reporter Tom Rinaldi in a heartfelt farewell on the Friday before his final show prior to the college football semi-final.

The award-winning reporter, who is leaving the network and joining Fox Sports in January, used his goodbye moment to thank the GameDay crew, show producers and staff.

« It was an amazing ride. Nineteen years with ESPN and 17 years with College GameDay. And the indulgence of really being able to say thank you, « said Rinanldi.

GameDay presenter Rece Davis and analysts Desmond Howard and David Pollack also wished Rinaldi all the best, as they gave him a standing ovation.

« You were a confidante who was aware of this show, » said Davis. « You have welcomed me with open arms and as I told you when you told us the news that you were moving to the next great opportunity, (we) are friends first, no matter what, and I appreciate all you do about it meant show and me personally. «

« I’ve never had to graduate from the biggest gig and show and being part of that family for over 15 years, » said Rinaldi. « It’s connectedness and love and an example of commitment and leadership, warmth and joy, trust and teamwork, friendliness and care. So, thank you for sharing the stories and moments and all of Saturday morning with deepest gratitude, Tom. «

« I’m thrilled to be joining the great Fox Sports team, » said Rinaldi in a statement. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the network’s incredible collection of live events and continue to tell the stories across these sports and venues. I can’t wait to get started. ”
