A bush fire that broke out in De Luz late Wednesday evening triggered mandatory evacuations in Fallbrook early Thursday morning.
Homes in the De Luz Road area of north Fallbrook, including Patton Oaks Road, Shady Lane, Darla Lane and part of Main Avenue, have been evacuated, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
The fire broke out for the first time around 11:30 p.m.. m when the North County Fire Department tweeted that the crews were at the site of a vegetation fire near De Luz Road west of Sandia Creek Drive.
North County Fire initially estimated the blaze at 300 acres, but Cal Fire San Diego tweeted around 11:50 PM. m. that his units also responded to the fire and estimated its size to be 50 acres. North County Fire Capt. John Choi later said the flame was estimated to have burned between 50-100 acres from 1:40 p.m.. m.
Choi confirmed that the fire had spread to Camp Pendleton and was being treated by firefighters from North County, Camp Pendleton, and Cal Fire. eval (ez_write_tag ([[336,280], ‘villagenews_com-medrectangle-3’, ‘ezslot_0’, 117, ‘0’, ‘0’]);
He said wind conditions allowed firefighters to get the fire under control, but evacuations have been ordered as the fire could immediately threaten homes in Fallbrook if the winds change.
