World News – USA – FIRST ALERT: 2 storms ahead this holiday weekend

On the last day of 2020 there were clouds and cool temperatures with a break between the storm systems.

In fact, we’ll be clear and cold by midnight and freezing temperatures will ring in 2021. The overnight lows fall north to south in the teens and 20s. So watch out for new icy spots.

New Year’s Day begins clear and cold with highs in the 30s to almost 40 years. The clouds gradually increase in the course of the afternoon from southwest to northeast and we hold back any winter mixture until late at night.

Between 7 p. m. and 10 p. m. Snow showers hit southwest New England on Friday, so Hartford and Worcester will see this action first. The precipitation then goes northeast and arrives in Boston around 11 p.m.. m. and remains through approx. 4 a. m. before switching to rain, as the temperatures warm up a bit.

This is the case everywhere in lower elevations and in southern New England. At sunrise on Saturday we all rain and in the afternoon the occasional showers rejuvenate, in the evening dry weather.

Northern New England is a different story. As soon as we reach the Berkshires, Worcester Hills and southern New Hampshire the snow turns into a wintry mix that lingers on Saturday after sunrise. It can rain on Saturday afternoon.

Central and northern Vermont and New Hampshire will see all of the snow, while interior Maine will get all of the snow as well. The Maine coast will have a mix of rain and Saturday afternoon on Saturday morning, while inland it will snow all day. Ski resorts and mountains will see about 6 inches of snow.

Three to six inches of snow and a mix are expected for central and southern New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as interior Maine. One to three inches of snow and compost is expected for interior southern New Hampshire, western Massachusetts, and northwest Connecticut with coatings removed up to 1 inch outside of Boston, northern Rhode Island, and southern Massachusetts.

Sunday night brings us a different system with a rain and snow probability. This storm could be a little more southeast, with a coastal depression also developing. So this could bring in slightly milder ocean air along the coast and in southeast New England, which means all of the rain.

There will be a few inches of snow indoors and in the mountains before this system starts on Monday afternoon. With this forecast, you can prepare for fine-tuning.

Next week it looks pretty quiet until the end of the week. Highs remain fairly seasonal in the 30s to low 40s with periods of clouds and sunshine. Another system is possible Friday through Saturday with a wintry mix again (snow north, rain south), but at this point there is a chance the timing and lane will change dramatically.
