Police say they will search every room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine early Saturday after reports of an « active threat » forced the hotel to lockdown Friday night.
Around 9:05 p.m.. m. On Friday, Grapevine Police received calls from witnesses about a man who threatened he would « shoot the place, » said Amanda McNew, police media manager and information officer.
McNew said there were no reports of gunshots fired or injuries, and officials had not found the suspect by 12 noon. m. Saturday.
Officials would go room by room overnight to investigate, she said. The guests were evacuated from their rooms and taken to a secure common room while the police carried out searches.
McNew said the Grapevine Police Department received calls from multiple witnesses describing the same man making the same threats, which sparked the large police response.
Some rooms are locked as a precaution. We have additional units on site and we continue to check everyone inside for wellbeing.
« Law enforcement is currently at our resort looking for someone who has made statements that endanger the safety of our guests, » a Great Wolf Lodge spokesman said in a statement Friday evening. « For the safety of our guests, the resort is currently locked and we are following the lead of law enforcement agencies. «
As a precaution, the resort said guests were banned and it was following the guidance of law enforcement.
« Law enforcement agencies have given us no indication that this person is armed, » the resort’s general manager said late Friday.
