World news – USA – In the wild comeback of the Pacers in the last seconds against the Pelicans

. . Indiana lost six points with 21 seconds to go to beat New Orleans. That's how the Pacers did it.

. .

NEW ORLEANS – On Monday night, NBA teams were less than 25 seconds ahead of 8 points by six points or more. 104-2 in the last 10 seasons, according to ESPN Stats & Information Research. The Indiana Pacers saw the New Orleans Pelicans lose the No.. 3 in this scenario with a shocking 118-116 win at the Smoothie King Center.

With a lead of 106-100 over the pelicans, Victor Oladipo from Indiana hit a 3-pointer with 20. Playing 5 seconds then the Pacers forced a theft and got another 3-hand, this one from Myles Turner with 6. 9 to send the game into overtime. In extra time, Malcolm Brogdon supplied the game-winning floater with 1. 7 seconds left.

It’s been a remarkable comeback for a team that struggled with nasty problems all night. Brogdon’s shot meant the Pacers didn’t have to play a second overtime without Turner and Domantas Sabonis, who both fouled.

« I was just thinking of getting into my seat, » Brogdon said of his winning shot. « Everything else was irrelevant at the time. I thought I can take this shot and it would be game over. We don’t have to worry about who fouled or who will continue to play. Let me just do this shot. «

The Pacers appeared to be on their way to their third loss of the young season in the fourth quarter. New Orleans apparently took control with a 19-2 run that gave the Pelicans a 104-94 advantage at 3:46. Sabonis was hit with his sixth foul on the game that completed the run, a Brandon Ingram and -1 as all the momentum went with the home team.

Oladipo’s pull-up 3-hand with 20. 5 seconds left to reduce the lead to a single possession. Lonzo Ball, the New Orleans Guardian, then took the ball to JJ Redick while Ingram, Steven Adams and Zion Williamson all ran into the forecourt.

Doug McDermott and Oladipo went to catch Redick instead of immediately polluting, and while Redick was able to escape he landed on the ground. He was able to get the ball to the ball, which took a dribble in the direction of the defending duo of Pacers and got caught.

Then Oladipo saw his chance. He went to the ball and was able to take the ball away as no other pelicans came to help.

Turner ran to the 3-point line, caught the pass, and drilled the shot to get the score at 106.

« At the end of the day, you have to be smart, » said Oladipo. « First and foremost, I had the feeling that we didn’t want to be lazy right away. We wanted to try to get a trip. I felt like I might try to get a theft and I tried and I got it.

« The game is never over. You only have to give 110 percent to the end. It was a great piece, a great shot of Myles. We had some big games on the track. Just something we can continue to build on. «

Turner, who struggled with nasty problems throughout the game, including two fouls in the first 80 seconds, said he was ready when the ball hit his hands.

« I am very confident in everything I do, » said Turner. « Obviously it was a great shot. I struggled with nasty issues for most of the game. But I’m always ready for moments like this. I just let the game come to me. «

New Orleans coach Stan Van Gundy blamed himself for not calling time out when Redick or Ball were in possession, which could have given the Pelicans the win.

« I screwed this up, » said Van Gundy. « We only had to take time out when we struggled with the press. All we had to do was get the ball on the ground and we would win the game. This one was on me. «

Both teams had their chances in overtime – there were three draws and three changes in the lead in overtime – but it was Brogdon who put the game down with his left-right swimmer over Eric Bledsoe to freeze the game for Indiana.

« Coach trusted me with the ball and wanted me to come back and take the final shot, » said Brogdon. « I got to my place and it fell. «
