Comedian John Mulaney showed signs of relapse during a bizarre skit he did with Seth Meyers weeks before checking into rehab, according to a new report.

Former Saturday Night Live writer entered a Pennsylvania rehab facility over the weekend after an alleged relapse of alcohol and cocaine abuse.

The outlet recalled a disturbing skit Mulaney played with the late-night host, titled « Royal Watch, » in which he criticized Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure as high-ranking members of the British royal family. In it, Mulaney takes off his sunglasses at one point and reveals « dark, cloudy eyes ». The delivery of his jokes was also reportedly criticized by Meyers, who feared the segment might not be used on television.

« I love having you here, but in the future it might be better to call if you just want to discuss matters like that . . . We’ll see what we can use of it, but it might just be online, « Meyers said of the outlet.

Mulaney reportedly agreed with Meyers, telling the host that his next « Royal Watch » segment « would be a little more focused. ». « 

Now sources report that Mulaney was « crazy » about substances while filming the sketch. A Mulaney representative did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

After his allegedly disruptive behavior, an insider claimed that Mulaney relied on « SNL » creator Lorne Michaels and comic book colleague Pete Davidson to help him with his rehab visit.

« Pete and Lorne were incredibly helpful, » said the source. « Mulaney is like Pete’s older brother and they always tour together. « 

Mulaney has a « tight inner circle of friends » that he relies on and who stands by with encouragement, the source said.

After learning of his entry into rehab this week, fans remembered their initial concerns about Mulaney’s well-being when the segment was posted on YouTube weeks ago.

« If you’ve seen @sethmeyers lately, you must know something was wrong, » one person wrote on Twitter.

« He just seemed very bad on this segment and I was very confused that it was strange to see and see him like that, but unfortunately now it makes sense, » agreed another.

A third person added: « He got a bit of a jar but I think 2020 drove everyone crazy at some point. « 

« Three weeks ago I had the feeling that John Mulaney’s appearance on Seth Meyers was something * unusual *, » wrote a fourth person along with the clip on Twitter.
