COLUMBIA, Mon. . – It took a lot of patience and a coin toss from Andy Katz to get the Braggin ‘Rights rivalry game going this season.

No.. 6 Illinois (4: 1) wants to beat Mizzou after a weak loss of 63: 56 in St. . Louis. We will miss the traditional atmosphere in the Enterprise Center, but luckily the game can go on.

« We have to get this one, » Da’Monte Williams told reporters on Friday. “We have to do what we have to do. ”

Missouri goes 4-0 into this game after beating Liberty 69:60 on Wednesday. The Tigers angry No.. 21 Oregon earlier this month and they won double digits in Wichita State.

Missouri 76, No.. 6 Illinois 74 3:58 left 2H: Kofi Cockburn’s back-to-back dunks attributed this to a game with one possession. I’m really going to miss the traditional full house at Enterprise for those last four minutes. Ayo Dosunmu has just been called for an offensive foul. This is only his third. He has 34 points. Mark Smith has five fouls after being called for an illegal screen. Here we go.

Missouri 69, No.. 6 Illinois 62 7:51 left 2H: How about a Lee Corso that is not that fast, my friend? Ayo Dosunmu is in takeover mode. Missouri didn’t have an immediate answer to its attacks. A quick 6-0 run gives Illinois an impulse.

Missouri 69, No.. 6 Illinois 56 9:01 left 2H: Too early to name a dagger, but Dru Smith’s three somehow felt like one. Missouri made five straight baskets. The Illinois defense fell asleep with cuts on the basket and fought against the intrusion of dribbles.

Missouri 60, No.. 6 Illinois 53 11:30 left 2H: Pinson blew from Trent Frazier for a bucket and a bucket. Trent has to contend with attacking guards this season while guarding the ball. Ayo Dosunmu earns his living in midfield. He has 25 points with 11:30 to go. How many does he need for an Illinois win? Over / Under 36?

Immediately afterwards, he had a mix-up in the defense in the transition, which resulted in a face-up three. Illinois hangs in there, but it’s ugly.

Missouri 52, No.. 6 Illinois 46 15:21 left 2H: If nothing changes, Ayo Dosunmu will make a heroic effort to get this out. He has up to 20 points (7 against 9) after one and one bucket. But needs help. Curbelo was there but made some bad mistakes. Brad Underwood tossed his water bottle after Curbelo was told to do a fast break push.

Pretty brutal end of the half. Andre Curbelo fouled Mitchell Smith off the ball to bring Mizzou to the line where they are 16v16. The Illinois are 7-for-15 off the strip, which is inexcusable. After Missouri’s free throws, Curbelo came on the sidelines but missed the lay-in and Kofi Cockburn got his hands on the ball but was unable to correct it. That was a recurring theme.

Curbelo and Ayo Dosunmu are giving the Missouri guards everything they can. Dosunmu has a game high of 15 points (5v6) and Curbelo has 12 with many possible assists. That said, the Illinois don’t give these two enough help and if they get shots (make or miss) Mizzou is quick to get back on the ground in transition. The Tigers have a 16-to-9 advantage on fast break points. Giving up 16 points in transition is pretty terrible.

Xavier Pinson, Javon Pickett and Dru Smith are double digits for Mizzou while Kobe Brown has nine points. Once again they do it without a lot from Mark Smith (3 points) and Jeremiah Tilmon (0 points, 0 rebounds) in a Braggin rights conflict.

Missouri 47, No.. 6 Illinois 41 29. 5 left 1H: Free throws and transitional defense. That’s the difference in the game. Illinois is a sad 7v15 player and Mizzou is 14v14. The Tigers also have 16 fast break points, which is a lot for half.

Missouri 37, No.. 6 Illinois 33 7:39 left 1H: Curbelo continues to impress offensively. He’s so damn fast, man. It’s in the double digits here in the first half. Mizzou is still leading and it’s the colors of last year. Mark Smith has three points (1: 4) and is on the bench with two fouls. Jeremiah Tilmon has two fouls, no points and no rebounds. The support of the tigers is increasing.

Missouri 25, No.. 6 Illinois 22 7:39 left 1H: Ayo Dosunmu stopped where he left off in the Duke game with excellent play and high efficiency. He’s thrown another midfielder off the baseline and he’s fouling people. Dosunmu has a game high of 10 points while leaving the field 4 on 4. Mark Smith didn’t score in the first 11 minutes but took a regression three to go over Trent Frazier. Smith tried to make Frazier in transition to another but was charged with charges. It was all offensive to Dosunmu and Curbelo. Still need someone to get started.

Missouri 16, No.. 6 Illinois 14 11:47 left 1H: If Xavier Pinson and Kobe Brown meet three, yes . . . Andre Curbelo has already contributed a lot to this game. He came to the suit for an end and fouled Jeremiah Tilmon in transition. His defense was really good too. Like the matchup of putting him on Pinson with his speed. He kept Pinson off the paint and Curbelo also helped knock the ball out of Tilmon’s hands inside when he got Kofi in the air.

Missouri 9, No.. 6 Illinois 8 15:40 left 1H: Good action early, but sloppy sales on both sides. No wonder for two teams who had 36 freebies together last year. Missouri will contest the middle of defense, particularly with Ayo to take on the chances for the middle selection. Dru Smith reached for his bag for two, but Ayo came back a moment later with a nice midrange. Illinois native Xavier Pinson likes this game and he’s hot early. He hit a deep three and got another bucket. He doesn’t have too many Illinois fans to speak to this year, but he stands up for this one.

7:00 p. m. : There are some fans in the building tonight and not just family members, which is surprising. The Dosunmu family is not here tonight, but I saw Adam Miller’s mom is here and I’m sure some others are. See also Mizzou parents.
