The Eagles will be the nightcap for college basketball on Thursday night as they try to get their season going again

After some planning changes, the Eagles will be tonight after a failed comeback attempt in their previous game against the St. . John’s red storm. Your next opponent is 30th. Place in the KenPom leaderboard and have their own comeback win against Army – the Florida Gators.

Early in their game against the Black Knights, the Gators found themselves in a hole by falling double digits and they were halfway behind the army. Throughout the game, the Gators struggled to hit from outside the arch, only shooting 26% on three. It was the opposite for the Black Knights, who were able to stay in the competition at 41. 7% of their three. However, Florida was able to come out with a new kind of energy in the second round and dominate the Black Knights in color. This is where the Gators managed to find most of their points in the second half, beating Army 45-30 in half.

Tre Mann was the player of the game for the Gators, the solid 19 PTS | put up 6 RBS | 4 ASTS on the ground in just 22 minutes. In today’s game I would expect Mann to be another highlight on this team’s offense against the Eagles, but I also expect sophomore Scottie Lewis to be more of a breakout performance. Lewis is a former McDonald’s All-American who had a breakout rookie season last year. While he fell a little behind at the season opener, I would expect him to have a much better offensive foray against an Adler’s defense that has been struggling lately. Additionally, much like the Eagles, the Gators appear to have a fairly deep rotation. Mike White used 10 different players against the army, 8 of which played at least 15 minutes. It will be interesting to see what adjustments, if any, Coach Christian makes in response to the rotation Coach White sends out on the pitch. Lastly, keep an eye on Colin Castleton. He was Florida’s main center-back against the Black Knights and got a point and two rebounds off scoring his first double-double of the season.

For the Eagles, this will again prove to be another test. The Gators are certainly a creepy team if they can get their offensive going. Not to mention BC 97 points on St. . John’s a few days ago. We saw coach Christian play around with both zone defense and man-to-man. For anyone who has watched the Games, we can all agree that zone defense has proven to be the most effective. Even so, it will be interesting to see what kind of defense Christian builds and maintains throughout the game. On the offensive side, I expect a stronger guard game from Tabbs and Heath. CJ Felder also seems to be getting a more serious role, which I think he rightly deserves. He will continue to be a great presence for the Eagles in the color.

For BC to emerge victorious against Florida, the guards must set the pace and pace, limit sales and win in transition. In addition, the shot selection is at the far end of the St. . John’s game was terrible. Langford and Heath need to adjust the pace, give the rest of the team some time to get set up, and then do some kind of game design. There can’t be too much hero ball against these high profile opponents. With that said, as much as I like the St.. . John’s game is a fluke, I think that defense, more precisely BC’s transition defense, will prove to be their Achilles heel again in this match. I’m not expecting a high-scoring affair, but I expect Florida to emerge victorious tonight.
