Paramount has ordered a revival of the Nickelodeon series « iCarly » with Miranda Cosgrove repeating her role as the title web star.
The original iCarly series, which ran from 2007 to 2012, followed a group of best friends who webcasted as they grappled with everyday problems and adventures. Original stars Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress will also return to the series as Carly’s brother Spencer and friend / love interest Freddie.
School of Rock alum Jay Kogen and Diary of a Future President Ali Schouten are committed to developing the new series.
The original « iCarly » series was developed by former Nickelodeon lead actor Dan Schneider and was a hit with Nickelodeon. It achieved strong ratings over six seasons and received five Emmy nominations for the Outstanding Children’s Program. In addition to various specials and TV films, the franchise also spawned a spin-off series, « Sam & Cat », which focused on Jennette McCurdy’s « iCarly » character and Ariana Grande’s character from sister series « Victorious ». ”

The Viacom network also abruptly severed relations with Schneider in 2018 after reports of « abusive behavior » towards employees. Schneider was a prolific producer in the 1990s and 2000s, responsible for some of Nick’s biggest live action hits including « iCarly », « Drake & Josh », « Victorious », « All That », « Kenan & Kel ». and “Henry Danger. ”
