HipHopDX – Even if this is the beginning of the end of the HipHopDX coverage of the Friday of New Music 2020, the first summary of the releases for the month of December gives hope for a strong end of the year.
This week’s featured projects list is a randomly varied group of offerings initiated by the latest installment in the album trilogy by Think Its Game artist YFN Lucci, along with Sugar Trap rapper Rico Nasty’s studio debut and a Deluxe -Album from Portland’s hip hop prodigy Aminé.
After the deluxe release of his project HIStory, Lost Pages, YFN Lucci is back to fulfill his album trilogy saga with his offer Wish Me Well 3: Me Against The World. The 21-track project is ultimately a hand-to-hand exchange of lyric poetry between the currently greatest active artists in the South, intact with features from Jeezy, Boosie Badazz, Yo Gotti, Mulatto, JayDaYoungin and others.
Grammy nominated rapper Aminé, who is continuing the deluxe album trend this year, has restarted his limbo endeavors. The project has aged well; and after a strong first top 20 appearance at No.. 16 on the Billboard 200 table, it has garnered 50 million streams since its release earlier this year. Look forward to seven new tracks and guest verses from Toosii and Valee.
Rico Nasty has attempted to cement the first cornerstone of her legacy with her debut album Nightmare Vacation after making a significant contribution to the musical renaissance that is currently developing in the DMV. During an interview on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music Show, she discusses the origins of the album’s antithetical name.
« I still feel as boastful as ever, » explained Rico Nasty.
« I just think the only difference now might have been I had my ego shot down a bit from quarantine and just growing up in general. « . So I think this whole project was done around the time that it was probably the first time in my life that I wasn’t on 10 as far as confidence goes. In me, in my personal life, everything is usually great. And making this album just started getting a really tricky balance life. That’s why I called it Nightmare Vacation because all the shit I was scared of at one point was scared to do and scared to say it just got second nature. ”
It’s the 15th anniversary of T-Pain’s debut album, Rappa Ternt Sanga, and to celebrate his groundbreaking vocabulary, the Grammy Award-winning singer shares a collection of fan-favorite remixes from the project. Of the 18 tracks featured in The Lost Remixes, some are rare live iterations of Nappy Boy’s biggest hits, including a pre-recorded 2008 performance of Can’t Believe It with Lil Wayne.
The new After The Rain EP by Yung Baby Tate from Atlanta comes through the record label Raedio by Insecure Creator Issa Rae. After The Rain is championed by the colorful single « Rainbow Cadilac » and features features from 6LACK and Flo Milli. In a press release, Yung Baby Tate says her partnership with Rae for the EP is the result of divine intervention.
« Issa is a strong, hardworking black Capricorn woman . . . God works really hard and I am honored to be led by Issa, « she proclaims.
Former Juice WRLD producer DJ Scheme delivers his compilation album Family with Ty Dolla $ ign, Lil Yachty, Cordae, Skimaske The Slump God and many more. The 23-year-old Palm Beacher, who previously received gold certification from the RIAA for his 2019 PRESEASON EP, intends to make a statement on his impact on hip hop in South Florida with the 17 tracks that live off his debut release.
The soap community has a slew of new songs that can be clean and cranked thanks to Katy, the new Wasteland mixtape from Texas-based TisaKorean. For fans looking for more of the infectiously strange and boastful magical Korean incarnations of his TikTok smash « The Mop » with Kblast and Huncho Da Rockstar, there are 14 new bops on Wasteland. Other features include Awful Records CEO Father and newcomer Yehme2.
Additionally, the Honorable Mention for this week includes a new project from Landon Cube and a pair of deluxe albums from Blxst and Justin Rarri. Check out the new singles for this week above and head to the Singles section of HipHopDX to hear more new music every day.
