TikTok’s « Ratatouille » music venue announced its star cast for a benefit concert featuring content created and selected by TikTokers.
« Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical » – affectionately known as « Ratatousical » – will begin streaming for 72 hours on Friday. Tickets are available exclusively from TodayTix. com and are $ 5. The proceeds will go to the Actors Fund, which helps people in the entertainment industry.
Roles for the likes of Tituss Burgess, Adam Lambert, Wayne Brady, André De Shields and Ashley Park were announced on Monday.
It’s the product of several minds – many music theater fans and unemployed artists – who collaborated on original songs, lyrics, and ideas to turn an animated, non-musical film into a Broadway-style two-act show.
The film and music story revolves around Remy, an ambitious rat who dreams of becoming a Parisian chef. Burgess will play Remy, Lambert will play his older brother Emile and Brady will play his father. Tony winner De Shields plays food critic Anton Ego, Kevin Chamberlin plays the great chef Gusteau and Andrew Barth Feldman plays Gusteau’s « nephew » Linguini.
The attraction, inspired by the Disney film « Ratatouille », is a dark ride that looks at Remy’s world from a « strange rat’s perspective ».
Other cast members include Tony winner Priscilla Lopez, Tony nominee Ashley Park, Owen Tabaka and three-time Tony nominee Mary Testa. The show is performed with the 20-piece Broadway Sinfonietta Orchestra.
The musical – based on the 2007 Disney / Pixar film – has trickled onto TikTok in recent months, and many of the viral stars of this social media platform who contributed to the show are involved in the production.
Both Emily Jacobsen, who wrote the original song « Remy the Ratatouille » for TikTok, and composer Daniel Mertzlufft, whose arrangement helped boost online efforts, and Blake Rouse, who wrote two, receive written recognition of the more popular songs on TikTok, « The Rat’s Way of Life » and « Ratatouille Tango ». «
The streamed show is produced by Seaview Productions. It will be adapted by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, choreographed by Ellenore Scott and directed by Lucy Moss.
