World News – USA – Staff predictions: FAU try to stay perfect at home against West Kentucky

The Owls (2-1, 2-1 C-USA) face Willie Taggart’s former team, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (2-5, 1-2 C-USA) today in a division game C-USA East

Taggart was the WKU starting quarterback from 1995 to 1998 and later became the head coach from 2010 to 2012 He won the very first game played at FAU stadium when his Hilltoppers defeated the Owls, 20- 0, Oct 15, 2011

The University Press sports team are back with their predictions after a 4-0 record in FAU’s third win over UTSA Again, no one guessed the correct score last week This week Colby Guy, editor-in-chief, will be the guest coach

FAU continue to dominate their defense The top seven have continuously put pressure on the opposing team’s quarterbacks all season, with 13 sacks in three games The defense has also performed well against two of C’s top running backs -USA, Marshall’s Brenden Knox (25 carries, 101 yards) and Sincere McCormick (16 carries, 54 yards)

The Owls should have no problem stopping WKU’s struggling offense The Hilltoppers are averaging 16 5 points per game and have struggled to find much consistency in passing or running play until present this season

While the FAU attack hasn’t lit the scoreboard this season either, they’ve shown steady progress every week quarterback Nick Tronti continues to fail to return the ball, throwing just one only interception during the season and zero fumbles

Look for the owls to rely once more on the running game and their strong defense to put this one aside early

For WKU, their best chance of victory on Saturday is to run the football running back Gaej Walker is someone to watch as he rushed for 163 yards in the last two games Quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome is a double threat with 738 passing yards and 246 rushing yards on the season

Last week, the FAU defense kept UTSA at three points and 230 attacking yards while choking a very dangerous running back in McCormick FAU will force WKU to beat them in the air It’s a daunting challenge for a team that only completed 565% of their passes

For FAU, they will feast on WKU’s porous defense This season, the Hilltoppers allow 297 points and 3,756 yards per game WKU’s main concern is their running defense They are giving up 47 yards per rushing attempt and 1,857 yards on the ground per match

While the passing offense was lackluster for the Owls, running back Malcolm Davidson was a positive. He leads the team with 195 rushing yards and one touchdown 75 yards per run attempt

Expect the FAU to dominate possession time with Davidson as the focal point of their offensive game plan and the defense creating several turnovers

Western Kentucky will look to bounce back after being sent off 41-10 by No 11 BYU last week The Hilltoppers will look to keep the game in one possession as their two wins were three points

FAU doesn’t have as much experience as West Kentucky this season The Owls have played three games and the Hilltoppers have played seven

The Owls were in a rhythm last week against UTSA Both sides of the ball were playing effectively The offense will look to Tronti to throw more than 100 yards and a touchdown in consecutive weeks They’ll need Davidson to get another 100 yard running game too

FAU must score early on Saturday if they are to beat Taggart’s old schedule Last week they managed to take a ten-point lead in the first quarter

Taggart will want to be aggressive to win against his old program The offense will be explosive and the defense will not allow any points FAU will get his first shutout this season on Saturday

After a convincing 24-3 win over UTSA, the FAU Owls should have little to no problems against the 2-5 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

FAU’s defense has been strong all season, allowing no more than 20 points throughout this season, with only No 16 Marshall hitting the 20 mark, so they should be able to keep the western Kentucky attack from a distance

With FAU’s running offense being his main feature, as 196 of FAU’s 332 total yards last week against UTSA fell on the pitch, this game looks like a low scoring affair that FAU can do. win easily

Davidson should be a player to watch in Saturday’s game, as he totaled 115 rushing yards on 14 carries in last week’s win over UTSA
