A conservative evangelical Christian singer and COVID denier in the US has decided to hold two services in Los Angeles this weekend, raising fears that the event could become a « super-spreader ». ”
Sean Feucht, who has been hosting open air concerts in the United States since 2020, opposes COVID-related bans on religious gatherings.
His concerts are usually attended by hundreds of maskless worshipers, standing shoulder to shoulder as they sing and dance.
Feucht’s plans come when the U.S.. 725 cases broke their record for most coronavirus-related deaths in a single day. The country now has a total of 338. 656 deaths recorded from COVID-19.
As of Wednesday, more than 82 million people have been infected with the virus worldwide, with the US continuing to have the highest number of infections.
Meanwhile, Colorado health officials announced on Wednesday that they had discovered the first case of a highly infectious variant of the coronavirus, originally discovered in the UK.
Health experts believe the variant is more contagious than other previously identified strains of the SAR-CoV-2 variant, but say the symptoms it causes aren’t any more serious.
The new variant has also been discovered in several other countries, including some in Europe as well as Canada, Australia, India, South Korea and Japan.
