Timothée Chalamet portrayed a slew of characters during his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live – including the coronavirus.
Actor Little Women played Harry Styles in one sketch, an eager holiday baking contestant in another, and an avid Jets fan in a sketch that mocks pro-Trump network Newsmax.
But in one particularly memorable sketch titled « A Rona Family Christmas, » he played Spike, the disappointing son in a family of coronavirus particles.
The sketch begins with the mother and father, portrayed by Cecily Strong and Beck Bennett, who remember the year’s achievements when they were home on vacation.
« I know we’ve traveled non-stop all year, » replies Strong’s character. « China, Italy, New York, Florida. . . How great is Florida? «
Bennett continues, « I just wish we had a break from all the Christmas parties, I mean how many can the White House throw? »
Holt’s character then introduces her parents to her « famous » friend whom she met in the contact tracking app. «
« It’s not a big deal, but I was the one who infected [Tom] Hanks, » he tells her parents.
Later, when the neighbors – the herpes – come by to say hello, Chalamet appears in a leather jacket, drinking from a bottle of Purell hand sanitizer.
« Oh, I’m sorry, am I little?. . . disinfected? Chalamet replies. « At least I’m not kidding like the rest of this family! »
« If you don’t start infecting again, your career is over, » says Bennett. « You will end up like those washed-up viruses at ‘Dancing with the SARS’. ‘ »
« You don’t mention Cuomo in this household! » his father screams. « You know damn well that President Trump is the only one looking out for us! Without Trump we wouldn’t be here! »
Strong adds, « And Trump introduced everyone he knows to us, even after he was infected. That’s a class!
Ultimately, the couple reconciles after Chalamet’s character reveals that he feels neglected because his father was so focused on the second wave.
« I know the odds are stacked against us, but maybe 2021 will be even better, » says Strong.
Holt’s character then announces that she and her boyfriend are engaged. « And we’re moving to Rudy Giuliani, » he adds.
