The first basketball tournament at Holiday College is still here, but has just moved to Asheville, NC for a year. We got everything done for the 2020 Maui Invitational
While it may not take place at the famous Lahaina Civic Center in Hawaii this year, the Maui Classic is still with us thanks to the tournament moving to Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina. No beaches, but lots of slot machines now!
As usual, it draws one of the best fields in all of college basketball, with eight teams all thinking about this year’s NCAA tournament. North Carolina is returning and three times when they won the Maui they won the NCAA championship. And this year it’s only a 3. 5 hours drive on I-40.
This is an individual elimination tournament, but losing teams continue to play against each other every day, so all teams will eventually play three games.
