The Space Needle and Seattle Center didn’t host a traditional personal New Year celebration this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, they spun like many groups this year. Terry Morgan, CEO and owner of Modern Enterprises in Seattle, helped put together a special video production that replaced fireworks with graphics.
It uses digital map technology with a twist, as image layers are superimposed over real video of the needle, previously captured from multiple camera angles.
The reaction has been mixed after the show aired on TV and streamed online. Some YouTube users have comments like « Amazing » and « This is breathtaking! » Leave. Others on Twitter said « it just didn’t have the same effect » and « lame ». ”
Regardless of that, it is definitely impressive creative work and offers a reasonable alternative to the « real thing ». « Watching the virtual show from the comfort of your home is not a bad option.
Morgan worked with Maxin10sity of Budapest, Hungary, with whom he was in Seattle in 2018 on another unique art and light show called “Borealis. ”
