Will Mauricio Pineda play for the US again after 90 minutes in defeating Costa Rica tonight?

The United States can take another big leap towards qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics tonight when they face the Dominican Republic (6:00 PM CT, FS1 & TUDN). A win would bring the Americans to six points and guarantee a place in the tournament semi-finals before they face Mexico on Wednesday.

Last time the US men defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in a match that was sloppy and gritty in equal parts. Chicago Fire defender Mauricio Pineda started the game looking a bit shaky for the first few minutes but had things under control. Pineda started the sequence that led to the USA’s only goal and contributed to the team’s goal. Fire homegrown Djordje Mihailovic from CF Montreal also started in the previous game.

In the Dominican Republic there is a 1: 4 defeat against the Concacaf giants Mexico. El Tri can also guarantee a semi-final berth with a win over Costa Rica tonight. The two best teams in each group automatically advance to the semi-finals. As Concacaf will send two teams to the Olympics, a semi-final win guarantees a place in the Tokyo Games this summer.
