We still have many questions about Wanda Maximoff’s real intentions with WandaVision … but Monica Rambeau has been an equally big enigma lately.
Since she was kicked out of The Hex in Episode 3, Teyonah Parris has ‘SWORD Agent was a complete mystery: her post-hex X-rays (Hex-rays?) Were blank, her cells changed as a result of her time in Westview, and she chatted with an unseen aerospace engineer who could help her to get back to the mind-driven town that Monica seems dearly eager to try.
« In my opinion, she wants to go back [in The Hex] because she realizes that while Wanda is sorting out her grief, she really is a hostage in the City lasts, « Parris tells TVLine with a laugh. “There’s the level“ I understand what you want to deal with ”, but also“ You mustn’t do this. ”We’ll watch Monica sort the dichotomy of the two. How can you help and know someone something does that he shouldn’t do, but still empathizes with what he’s doing? «
Before the seventh episode of WandaVision (Friday at Disney), many of our current questions about Monica are topics that Parris cannot explicitly tease . She can’t provide any clues as to the identity of Monica’s engineering friend (though there are plenty of fan theories), and she’s equally curious to see if Monica and Jimmy Woo stayed safe outside of The Hex while Wanda expanded it in Episode 6. (“My mother asked me the same thing, too,” reveals Parris when asked if Monica and Jimmy drove off fast enough in a SWORD vehicle. “I’ll say I shouldn’t say it.”)
But Parris can explain why Monica has defended Wanda so passionately in the last few episodes, despite the pain Wanda inflicted on her in Westview: The two women are connected by loss, she says.« Not just [Monicas Mother] died, Monica wasn’t there to help her mother with the transition either. And that’s a very difficult pill to swallow, « says the actress. » The guilt and the shame and every other grief that it solves tries while again working on a project that she normally doesn’t even do – there are parallels between Monica’s grief and trauma and tragedy and what Wanda is experiencing. Monica connects with Wanda on this level. «
In in the meantime Mon I have somehow diminished ica’s bond with Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel – who was a child when Monica – given Monica’s recent cold reaction to Captain Marvel’s name. After Parris is confirmed to appear in the MCU’s Captain Marvel 2 film, she implies that « we have a lot of real estate and time to play around with Carol and Monica’s relationships. »
As for the question, whether WandaVision will provide any further explanation for Monica and Carol’s apparent rift before the show ends, Parris will only tease in the three remaining episodes of the series: « There’s a lot more story to tell ».
