Residents may want to close the hatches in the coming hours with large hailstones and heavy rainfall that are expected to hit Ipswich.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Ipswich, Laidley, Esk and Lowood shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Harmful winds and heavy rains can cause flash floods in the next few hours.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Services also advised people to secure loose items outdoors, move vehicles under cover, stay indoors, and beware of fallen trees and power lines.
