The New Zealand Warriors have recruited one of the hottest young rugby league defenders from the Brisbane Broncos to fill the huge void left by rugby superstar Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
The Warriors confirmed that tonight they signed 19-year-old Reece Walsh for three years starting next season.
Walsh is from Keebra Park State High School, known for producing NRL stars like Benji Marshall and Payne Haas.
Warrior coach Nathan Brown said Walsh has the foundation to become a dominant force in the NRL.
« Reece has all the qualities in his game that the really good players have, » said Brown.
« We’re not going to pressure Reece by making big statements about his game, but we’re going to give him all the directions to make sure his game is ready for the start of 2022. »
« We want him to work hard and train hard and he will be one e have a great career ahead of them. «
» Reece is a talented young player with a lot of potential and we are disappointed to lose him, « said Monaghan.
» The Warriors’ offer was too good to be rejecting it for a player in his experience.
« We wish Reece all the best and look forward to seeing him through with us this year. »
Tuivasa has signed a two-year deal with Super Rugby Club Auckland Blues, slated to begin in 2022.
The former rooster hopes to play for the All Blacks in the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
