Sam Kerr and Beth England were on target as FA Women’s Super League leaders Chelsea beat West Ham 2-0 on Sunday afternoon to keep the two-point lead at the top / p> The guests dominated after kick-off and took the lead after just seven minutes when England’s cross from the right found Kerr, who powerfully headed the ball from the six-yard box into the net for her 12th goal of the season.
The best chances for West Ham were Scottish striker Martha Thomas, who was trying to get something out of the game.
Thomas almost scored for the Hammers with two long shots – one sailed past the post while the other hit the target but was comfortably saved by Sweden’s goalkeeper Zecira Muscovic on her Chelsea debut.
Chelsea doubled their lead two minutes after the break, with Kerr providing the template this time.
The Australian international crossed the ball from right side and met England, who went home in a melee in reverse order of the first goal to double Chelsea’s record.

The away team almost extended their lead with two long shots from outside the box by Sophie Ingle, but West Ham goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan comfortably saved at every opportunity to limit the damage on her debut.
With this win, Chelsea have a two-point lead over runner-up Manchester City, who beat Everton 1-0, while West Ham remain in second place in their battle against relegation.
