The Yankees catcher, who wants to cement his place as the starter of the team, completed his second home run of spring training in the Bombers game against the Blue Jays on Wednesday evening at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.
Sanchez hit a solo in the fifth inning before left-hander Nick Allgeyer from Toronto.
The 28-year-old Sanchez wants to recover from what general manager Brian Cashman has described as the « terrible » 2020 season. Sanchez was even used in favor of Kyle Higashioka during the playoffs.
Derek Dietrich secured a homer with two runs in the fifth inning to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.
On Monday, Sanchez hit his first homer in spring training, a mammoth shot that cleared the 40-foot-tall thug’s eye in the dead center field.
