The bodies of more than 30 people were dragged from the banks of the Ganges in East India as a second wave of Covid-19 ravaged the country and devoured its healthcare system.

There are concerns that the bodies that washed ashore may have been people who succumbed to COVID-19 and then reportedly thrown into the river by grieving loved ones.
