Jay Pickett, best known for his work on the soap operas General Hospital and Port Charles, died on Friday at the age of 60 of unknown reasons. Pickett was on location in Idaho shooting Treasure Valley when, according to actor and friend Jim Heffel, he died on horseback.
« Yesterday I lost a good friend and the world lost a great person. Jay Pickett decided to ride to heaven. Jay died in the movie Treasure Valley, Idaho, sitting on a horse ready to rop up an ox. The way of a real cowboy, « Heffel said of Pickett, who both co-produced the film with Travis Mills.
Mills shared a tribute to Pickett in a separate post on the film’s official Facebook page.

Pickett was born in Spokane, Washington, in 1961 and grew up in Caldwell, Idaho. In his college years he focused on becoming an actor; He received his BA in Acting from Boise State University and his MFA in Acting from UCLA with a major in theater from both institutions.
He has appeared on many popular television shows over the years including China Beach, Dragnet, Mr. Belvedere, Perry Mason and Days of Our Lives, before making an appearance on ABC soap Port Charles as Frank Scanlon in 1997, secured a recurring role at General Hospital as Detective David Harper.
