Billionaire philanthropist and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has given away nearly $ 9 billion in the past 12 months after dropping similar announcements in July and December last year.
Scott and her new husband Dan Jewett worked with several other people to identify the best outlets for their charitable giving, she wrote on a blog.

« We are guided in this effort by the humble belief that it would be better if disproportionate wealth were not concentrated in a small number of hands and that the solutions are best designed and implemented by others, » wrote Scott.
Scott opened the post, saying that she would rather not be the headline and prefer the title « 286 Teams Empowering Voices the World Needs to Hear ».
« People who fight inequalities deserve a central one Role in stories about the change they create. This is equally true – perhaps especially – when their work is financed by wealth, ”wrote Scott. « Putting large donors at the center of social progress stories is skewing their role. »
All of Scott’s charitable giving have allowed organizations to use the money at their own discretion without their contribution.
