Suzette Quintanilla was not only Selena’s sister and drummer, but also her best friend. In ‘Selena: The Series’ we see the deep bond the sisters had for their love of music, laughter and fun.

Apparently devastated by her sister’s death, Suzette gave up her drumming career in 1995 and has since focused solely on keeping Selena’s legacy alive. It’s quite an empire that Suzette is responsible for. She is the CEO and President of Q Productions, the family music production company that signs Tejano groups like Los Tres Reyes and Jennifer Peña. Suzette also runs the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas, which contains memorabilia from Selena’s career, including her original outfits and her beloved red Porsche. She also takes care of licenses for companies like the best-selling Selena MAC Cosmetics Collection.

As she kept her sister’s legacy alive, she said in an interview with Refinery 29: « When Selena died … the three things were on that she worked, her clothing line, a make-up line and a perfume line. I promised myself that. When I leave this world, I will achieve what she started, what was important to her. « 

The ultimate goal, however, is a simple one and one that every family can relate to. Suzette says, « The most important thing for my family is that they are not forgotten. » But besides the museum and the honors and even the Selena range, there is a constant reminder of Selena in Suzette’s life. Suzette’s son Jovan with husband Bill Arriaga bears a remarkable resemblance to his famous aunt. Jovan, born in 1998, has never met his aunt, but they both seem to have the same bright smiles.

‘Selena: The Series’ shows Suzette falling in love with Bill Arriaga, and it’s a love story that definitely deserves the Has stood the test of time. Suzette and Bill married in 1993 and are still together today.

Suzette also served as executive producer on Selena: The Series and was overjoyed with how the first part of the series was received. Speaking of the second installment in the series, which will hit Netflix on May 4th, Suzette said in an interview with ET Online: « This comes into the part where Selena and Chris [Perez] escape and get married. It’s part of our lives , this is part of our family’s history. « 

Suzette says the family is committed to covering the tough parts of their lives on the show. She adds that Part 2 of the series will cover the whole spectrum: « It’s just a little bit of everything. It makes you happy and you know there are some sad moments and then there are some moments that I personally don’t want to It brings up some really weird feelings. So, it’s just a little bit of everything, to be honest. «
