Cole’s streak comes to an end, DeGrom shines

Gerrit Cole's run came to an end as the New York Yankees went down to the Atlanta Braves.

Gerrit Cole’s regular-season winning streak came to an end in MLB, while Jacob deGrom was impressive on Wednesday.

After 20 straight regular-season wins, Cole’s streak was ended in the New York Yankees’ 5-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Cole struck out nine across five innings, but he conceded three home runs and five runs in the Yankees’ loss.

Braves pitcher Ian Anderson starred on debut, striking out six and giving up just one hit in six innings.

In the day’s other game between the Yankees and Braves, the latter won 2-1 as Max Fried starred.

DeGrom was in fine form for the New York Mets, who edged the Miami Marlins 5-4.

The pitcher struck out 14 in seven innings, giving up just two hits in the Mets’ victory.

The Chicago White Sox completed a two-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates thanks to a 10-3 win. Dallas Keuchel improved to 5-2 this season, striking out seven in six innings.

Pitching for the first time since August 5, Mike Clevinger struck out six in six innings, giving up eight hits as the Cleveland Indians beat the Minnesota Twins 6-3.

Oakland Athletics pitcher Mike Fiers only conceded one run in six innings in a 3-1 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Trevor Williams’ struggles this season continued. The Pirates pitcher conceded three home runs and eight runs in six innings against the White Sox.

MLB saw three games postponed due to protests against racial injustice after the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. The Cincinnati Reds-Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners-San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers-San Francisco Giants games were postponed.

Chicago White Sox 10-3 Pittsburgh Pirates Atlanta Braves 5-1 New York Yankees Atlanta Braves 2-1 New York Yankees Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 Washington Nationals Toronto Blue Jays 9-1 Boston Red Sox Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 Baltimore Orioles Cleveland Indians 6-3 Minnesota Twins Detroit Tigers 7-6 Chicago Cubs New York Mets 5-4 Miami Marlins Oakland Athletics 3-1 Texas Rangers St Louis Cardinals 6-5 Kansas City Royals Colorado Rockies 8-7 Arizona Diamondbacks

After their game was postponed, the Dodgers (22-9) and Giants (15-16) are scheduled to meet twice on Thursday.
