During her speech on the final night of the Republican Nation Convention, Ivanka Trump, daughter of President Donald Trump, painted a picture of a father who refuses to quit in the face of adversity.

She started her speech referring to her father as « the people’s president. » She told stories of the president fighting to get better trade deals, seeking to contrast him with politicians unwilling to do anything, though she did not name particularly legislators.

« I couldn’t believe so many politicians complain about a problem instead of fix it, » she said.

Ivanka’s speech also aimed to humanize the president, whose reputation, according to polls, has taken a hit after being initially dismissive of the coronaviurus pandemic which has killed more than 180,000 Americans.

Calling him « the voice of the forgotten people of this country, » Ivanka encouraged voters that Trump is a president who people can rely on to be honest.

« He knows what he believes, and he says what he thinks, » she said. « The results speak for themselves. »
