CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Bengals ran Joe Mixon back to the injured reserve with a foot injury.

The announcement on Saturday means that Backup Giovani Bernard will start for the fourth straight year when Cincinnati takes on Washington on Sunday.

Mixon, a fourth year player, suffered a right foot injury in the Indianapolis week 6 loss and was week to week. Prior to the injury, he carried the ball 119 times for 428 yards and three touchdowns and had 21 catches for 138 yards and one more TD.

The Bengals haven’t said how long he could take a break or if he can return this season.

Also on Saturday, the team raised security guard Quinton Spain and cornerback Jalen Davis from the training team to the active squad and brought Henderson’s security tray back from the Covid-19 list to the training team.
