Kai Havertz « just wants to be a nice player, » says Glenn Hoddle, who says the Chelsea midfielder « has to be a bit more assertive ».
Havertz has struggled for form since moving from Bayer Leverkusen to Stamford Bridge in September ($ 92 million).

« At the moment, Havertz is not showing anywhere near the player he was showing in Germany. He plays a little deeper at Chelsea and I think if he gets a little more in the box we’ll see the best of him, « the ex-Chelsea player and head coach told the Evening Standard.
« He’s a good player and more is to come, but he looks like a character who will need some time to settle down.
« It’s almost like he just wants to be a nice player. For me he has to be a little more assertive. Get in the box, hurt yourself a little in the sense of its runnability to get in the box. And I think he’ll score goals.
« He’s having a hard time adjusting, but he’ll get there in the end. He’s still a young man and he’s good enough to adjust to the pace and ferocity of the Premier League. «
Timo Werner also came to Chelsea in the summer after a rapid rise in Germany with RB Leipzig and, like Havertz, has not yet met the expectations for Lampard’s team in the last third.
