Sean Doyle, CEO of Aer Lingus, to become the new CEO of British Airways
In a statement this morning, IAG – which owns both Aer Lingus and British Airways – said BA chief executive Alex Cruz must step down However, he will remain as the airline’s non-executive chairman
Meanwhile, Donal Moriarty, general affairs director of Aer Lingus, will become the airline’s acting general manager
Sean Doyle worked at British Airways for 20 years before taking the helm of Aer Lingus almost two years ago
IAG also stated that Fernando Candela, Managing Director of LEVEL, is joining the Group Executive Committee in a new role of Director of Transformation
Today’s changes were announced by IAG’s new CEO Luis Gallego after a month of work
« IAG has proven itself to be one of the world’s leading airline groups with a portfolio of successful companies, » said Mr. Gallego, who replaced Willie Walsh
« We are going through the worst crisis in our sector and I am convinced that these internal promotions will allow IAG to be well placed to emerge in a strong position », he added
