Officers remain at the scene at a house in Manoir Liska in Newry where a suspected incident was reported around 5 a.m.30h on Saturday
A woman has been reported to have been stabbed multiple times in a house in the area
According to a PSNI statement, police and paramedics attended the scene and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries which were described as serious
He continued: « A search was carried out in the neighborhood of Liska Manor and a 38-year-old male suspect was arrested shortly thereafter on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He is currently in custody at vue to help agents with their investigations

A statement read: « Have spoken to police and they have confirmed a stabbing incident at Liska Manor in Newry tonight A young mother was taken to ED in Daisy Hill and transferred to the Royal in critical condition with multiple injuries
