The US men’s soccer team will try to take another step towards the Olympic Games in Tokyo on Sunday.
In their second of three group phase games of the CONCACAF Olympics – Men’s Qualification Championship, the USA will face the Dominican Republic at 7 p.m. ET March 21st on Fox Sports 1 and TUDN.
The USA opened the Olympic qualification on Thursday with a 1-0 win over Costa Rica. Jesús Ferreira scored the only goal of the game.
For the Summer Olympics, countries will have to identify their U23 teams to distinguish the tournament from the FIFA World Cup. No players were born on a Roser before 1997.
Eight teams are in Mexico this week to qualify for the qualifying tournament. CONCACAF split the clubs into two groups, and after a round robin group stage, the top two players in each group advance to the semi-finals.
The United States has not reached the Olympics since 2008 and is in the last two cycles each came up short. Here are the groups for the CONCACAF tournament.
Mexico will play the USA in the final game of the group stage on Wednesday.
However, both teams could advance through the tournament until the end of Sunday. Mexico beat the Dominican Republic 4-1 in their first game. So if Mexico and the US both win on Sunday, they will secure a spot in the semi-finals.
