Grey’s Anatomy fans had to wait longer than normal for the final season due to the delay in filming. Series 16 was shorter than usual as the shootout had to be halted halfway due to the coronavirus pandemic. Viewers were thrilled when the ABC drama made a comeback last month and was released on Thursday the 12th. November, celebrated its premiere with a two-part special.

Grey’s Anatomy season 17 started with two episodes in a row that focus on COVID-19 and its impact on Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital staff.

Surgeons were clearly struggling to keep up with inpatient demand, and Dr. Meredith Gray (played by Ellen Pompeo) discovered the virus herself.

Understandably, her friends and co-workers were worried about her well-being and her condition worsened so that she fell into a « COVID coma ». .

Meredith was last seen lying in a hospital bed, passed out and unaware of anyone else’s concern.

Grey’s Anatomy season 17, episode three, My Happy Ending, aired Thursday, December 19. November, on ABC.

After this episode was screened, it was announced that the medical drama would not happen for the following week.

This was because last Thursday the 26th. November was Thanksgiving, which usually means changes have been made to regular television programming.

Despite the pandemic, this year was no different and Grey’s Anatomy has been put on hold to display some musical extravaganza.

In place of Grey’s Anatomy was The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration, hosted by Derek and Julianne Hough and adult star Trevor Jackson.

Derek, Julianne, and Trevor were at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to present the Thanksgiving Special, and the couple even performed a medley of holiday classics.

While a star-studded concert is shown on ABC every two years, the pandemic meant it couldn’t, and highlights from previous shows were played instead.

But now that Thanksgiving is done and pollinated, it’s time for Grey’s Anatomy to make its return.

The fourth episode is called « You Will Never Walk Alone » and the show’s summary reads: « Owen faces a medical diagnosis that is more challenging than he imagined.

« Meanwhile, Koracick is going crazy; and Maggie gets a not-so-subtle glimpse into Winston’s background. « 

Unfortunately, it’s time again for Grey’s Anatomy to take another break, but a much longer one.

After that, viewers will have to wait for the seventh episode of Series 17 until 2021.

A title for this issue has not yet been announced, but according to IMDB, the release date will be Thursday the 4th. March 2021.

So fans need to soak up as much of Grey’s Anatomy as possible before it goes away for a few months.
